All about the Rogue

Here’s another Rogue beer! I wanted to try this one from the moment I saw it, Rogue packaging always gets me. I’m obsessed with chocolate so a double chocolate stout sounds like heaven to me.

Rogue- Portland OR

Double Chocolate Stout

SIZE: 750ml
PRICE: $13.95
ALC/VOL: 9%
IBU: 50

This beer smells exactly how you’d expect it to, chocolate and beer. It is a very think and rich beer. Just looking at it you can tell that its going to be a heavy beer. I made the mistake of drinking this beer after eating dinner and it was hard to finish- but not because it didn’t taste good.

This beer has the perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness. I usually find stouts too sweet, especially at the end but this one was spot on.  It is rich and full-bodied. I was told this beer tastes like a chocolate bomb, and they were very right. If you’re not a chocolate fan I don’t know why you would buy this.

This beer is a rich chocolate dessert in a bottle I would definitely recommend this to all chocolate lovers.

I’ve seen a few offerings by Rouge in Florida and they have been hit or miss. Dead Guy was pretty good but pricey. Do you have any recommendations? I’ve been eyeing the Voodoo Doughnut Maple Bacon Ale but have been wary.

    1. The only voodoo doughnuts one I’ve had is the pretzel one and it was very sweet but totally worth a try. I’m a big fan of deschutes and Burnside if you just want a beer from portland. The Burnside sweet heat is so good!
Are there any good brewerys in Florida?

I’ll have to look around for that, thanks for the tip! Total Wine should have Deschutes (which just got ranked #8 in the US) and Burnside. The two big ones most people talk about are Cigar City and Funky Buddha. I doubt ya’ll will be able to buy any out your way as they are rather tight on allocations. If you can get the Jai Alai by Cigar City, its a very highly rated IPA. The Doc Brown and Floridian Hefeweizen are two good and more available brews from Funky Buddha. Unfortunately there aren’t any breweries with national exposure quite yet. But those two are on their way!
